They have so many zombie shirts right now at Threadless, I couldn’t stop myself from picking favorites. Here is my selection of zombie shirts that scream, “I love zombies and fashion!” — as they’re torn apart by the horde.

THIS Is How The World Ends:

Braaains!

The Horde:

So, buy ‘em for yourself and your friends! And, if they’re gone, ask for reprints so I can buy them as Easter gifts.

Artist and toymaker Brian Colin created some small acrylic paintings of a zombie lego invasion. Legos + Gore = awesome. Check them out here.

It’s time to get that zombie hunting trophy you’ve long deserved. Here’s a one of a kind piece for your own private freak show, shot and mounted in 1969 by Kevin Klemm and for sale at Hyaena Gallery.

free comic book dayTomorrow is Free Comic Book Day, that special day of the year when you can just walk into a comic book store and walk out with free comics. Legally, that is.

There are some fantastic-looking comics among this year’s free offerings, such as Attack Of The Alterna-Zombies!, which features Jesus Hates Zombies. FEARNet has a preview of several pages of Jesus Hates Zombies — here’s a nice snippet with Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and a zombie horde:

We can’t wait to get our hands on some of these on Saturday — thanks Free Comic Book Day crew!

We spotted some beautiful zombie tattoos on Flickr today, which turned out to be the work of Stefano Alcantara, a US-based Peruvian artist who does amazing fantasy and photorealistic tattoo work.

These photos were probably posted to promote Alcantara’s recent guest appearance at the Last Rites Tattoo Theater in New York City, which looks like a dark fantasy mecca.

Check out Alcantara’s website for more of his work, and the Last Rites Flickr photostream for more stunning tattoo art.

It’s hard to make zombies kid-friendly, but this animated version of It Was a Dark and Silly Night, a comic written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Gahan Wilson does the trick. The animation is adapted from a story in the comic series Little Lit, edited by Art Spiegelman.

And sure, the zombies in the story are really just reanimated corpses and they’re more interested in dancing than brains, but it’s a great demonstration of the potential of zombies in all facets of pop culture. Zombies can now be seen in everything from romance to reality TV to kids’ fiction. Here at Zombie Slash, we can’t wait to see what genres zombies will invade next.

We’re psyched that the upcoming film Dead of Night, which is based on the Dylan Dog comic books by Tiziano Sclavi, is currently being shot in New Orleans. In the film Dylan Dog, a private detective who gets drawn into a dark world of zombies and vampires, is played by Brandon Routh of Superman Returns. Kevin Munroe directs and Sam Huntington, who also starred with Routh in Superman, will play his sidekick.

If you’re like us and can’t wait to see Sclavi’s zombies in action, check out this awesome animated version of the Dead of Night comic book.

Rick Murray, AKA Zombie Boy, is transforming his body into the living dead. He looks pretty badass.

Rick Murray, Zombie Boy (Tattoos)

Murray was inspired by horror movies, especially George A Romero’s films. In an interview with Bizarre magazine, he explains his motivation. “I thought long and hard about what I really wanted, what my passion was. And I decided I wanted to be a fucking zombie.”

He’s really lucid about his ongoing tattoo project — which may eventually include tattooing the whites of his eyes and removing an ear — and overall, sounds like a pretty cool guy. Check out the article in Bizarre for the full interview and lots more photos.

Oddly enough, I found Zombie Boy online while researching train trips to St. Augustine. Zombies are everywhere. (But if you know a good way to get to St. Augustine by train, let me know.)

Coming your way in 2010 may be the most epic and ambitious zombie film yet, World War Z, based on the novel by Max Brooks. We’re waiting for news about the casting (and crossing our fingers for some Brad Pitt!), but in the meanwhile, really dig this alleged concept art by Dan LuVisis.

Although some of the details here are sketchy compared to the book (Soldiers on roofs? And where are the portajohns?), I love its scale and action. Here’s hoping the movie looks something like this.

Check out io9’s story and image gallery for more info and detail shots of this huge digital painting.

I’m a fan of Dunny, an action figure canvas you can mod to be whatever you want. These zombie Dunnys designed by Riot68 are irresistible.

These are some pretty cool dolls, and each is one-of-a-kind. They’ll be on sale in the Riot68 shop if you have to have one.
